I had router trouble recently and needed to make sure I had the most recent firmware. Thus began The Quest for a Clickable Download Link.
First, it was an ordeal even finding this page on linksysbycisco.com (lame URL by the way). Once here all I wanted was a “Download Drivers” button. Instead I had to hunt for the tiny blue link on a blue background that lives far far away from the select router version dropdown.
The fix is simple: make “Download” look like a shiny button, maybe in orange or lime green, and put it right under the required “select router version” step.
Bad Stock Art: Sorry everybody else, Twitter owns this. Even though they only paid $6.
Bad Stock Art 2: “Oh, hello Same Stock Art Lady that I saw last year. For some reason I’m not feeling as cheerful as you. Maybe you’re The Ghost of Unpunished Wall Street Malfeasance Past?”
One of these System Tray icons is not like the other: You can tell I’m a Windows refugee because I call this “System Tray” and not “Menu Extras”.
Listen up Mac developers: DON’T DO THIS. The last thing we need is a loudness war. The only time these icons need color is when there’s an emergency like “low battery”.
